The proliferation of fast fashion and mass-produced household goods across today’s retail landscape has made it increasingly difficult to identify brands that adhere to standards acceptable to most sustainably aware consumers. Enter MR PORTER – the London-based online destination for men’s style – and its Small World campaign. A global celebration of diverse, independent and small brands, Small World’s artisans and designers bring together local communities through founding principles focused on craftsmanship, putting people first, using low impact materials and considering the welfare of animals. Additionally, all participating brands and products were assessed and vetted by Create Sustain based on guiding principles of unique skill, provenance and longevity.
To showcase select items from MR PORTER’s Small World collection while utilized as intended, INTERSECTION opted to incorporate them into a daily Southern California routine. From its bright blue ocean to its golden rolling hills, Los Angeles provided an impeccable surrounding in which to display new looks from Auralee and SSAM, while additional products from SSAM, R+D.LAB and Tata Harper organically appeared within a minimal home habitat. This stripped down, authentic exhibit of our favorite Small World items reveals the ease with which stylish and effective clothes, homeware and accessories can be implemented into a modern lifestyle in any corner of the globe.
